The Chomsky-Foucault Debate
Andrei State studied philosophy in Cluj, obtaining his PhD at the “Babeş-Bolyai” University with a thesis on the theological-political founding of modernity in the 16th-17th centuries (2009). He was editor for IDEA arts + society magazine (2006-2008). Since 2008 he coordinates a collection of history of philosophy at Tact publishing house in Cluj. His research interests include: history and theory of modernity, social and political philosophy, theory and practice of contemporary art.
Florin Flueraş is author and co-author of projects such as: Postspectacle Trilogy, the Presidential Candidacy, Romanian Dance History, etc. His projects function at the border between contemporary art, performance, theory and politics – by investigating, criticizing and exploring the political function of art and also the way in which the “artistic” (spectacular) component of politics and mass-media can be articulated and explored from his experience as a performer.
Iulia Popovici is a journalist for the weekly Observator cultural. She lectured about Romanian theatre in New York, Poznan, Warsaw, Vienna, Brussels; she coordinated dramaturgy workshops and was the editor of the dance supplements of Observator cultural. She is author of the book A theatre on the side of the road (Cartea Românească, 2008) and of several anthologies. Now she is working on her PhD.
Initiated in 2011, Căminul Cultural is a nomadic project offering a performative and discursive frame for the artistic and political practices. The project’s artistic direction is provided by the artists Brynjar Bandlien, Farid Fairuz and Manuel Pelmuș. The project is administered by the cultural association Solitude Project in cooperation with Bandlien/Pelmuș. Main partner: Erste Stiftung. Partners: subRahova, Critic Atac, veioza arte, Rokolectiv.
